I started making Halloween costumes in college on my mother's sewing machine, with a lot of help from her. In 1994 I inherited my Grandmother's sewing machine and later began making Halloween costumes for my children and custom window treatments for my home. In 1998 I took my first quilting class and I've been hooked ever since!
As a child I watched my Grandma Mabel make quilts, mostly by hand, from any material available... curtains, shirts, dresses, old pajamas. I am blessed to have the redwork quilt she made for me when I was born:
...the one she made for my high school graduation:
...and especially the one she made for my wedding which, sadly, she did not live to attend. Her absence made the gife even more special to us:

Bow tie Quilt, made in the 1970s:
Sunbonnet Sue, on display in my mother's home:
This comfy flanel quilt was pieced and tied by my husband's godmother and is a favorite in our home:
This pillow quilt was also made by my husband's godmother:
My Grandma June embroidered these quilt blocks by hand starting in 1928 when she was only five years old. I was thrilled when she gave them to me in 2009 and asked me to find a use for them. These are the first two of four quilts using 1930s reproduction fabrics. See my awards page for more about the yellow quilt.
Kewpie Dolls:
Sunbonnet Sues, Dutch boys & animals:
These baby quilts we call "bunny blankets" were handmade by my Mother-in-law for our children:
This Dresden Plate quilt, made by my husband's grandmother, is proudly displayed in my Mother-in-law's home.
I admired my Grandma June crocheting everything from slippers to hats, sweaters and afghans. I still have the afghan she made to match my Holly Hobby bed spread when I was a little girl, shown here:
Grandma June taught me to crochet when I was about eight years old. In 2003 I learned to knit. Here are a few of my own projects:
